ABC’s Cassidy’s Place featured on TODAY Show

ABC was delighted to welcome Kathie Lee Gifford at Cassidy’s Place, ABC’s preschool for children who are medically fragile, live in poverty, have serious disabilities, are homeless, in foster care, or have suffered abuse and neglect. Founded in 1996 with the support and dedication of the Gifford family, Cassidy’s Place has been serving some of NYC’s most vulnerable children for 23 years. The Gifford family were also treasured partners at Cody Gifford House, which was a home for medically-fragile infants and toddlers and continues to offer early intervention services today.

In partnership with GrowNYC, Gifford helped children plant basil, rosemary, and more in the Cassidy’s Place playground to celebrate the beginning of spring. Across ABC’s programs, we encourage children to learn about the natural world, including the science behind food and nutrition – engaging children directly in the process of growing their own food, preparing it, and incorporating it into their everyday food choices.

Children at Cassidy’s Place dedicated a bench in her honor as thanks for her years of advocacy. Gifford’s Garden will be a symbol of hope for years to come!
