Cody House

A stepping stone to preschool

Association to Benefit Children, one of New York City’s most trusted and beloved providers of early childhood special education services, is offering a new center-based experience for children with special needs aged 2.5 and under. We have 10 spots in a new classroom with both full and partial day enrollment options.

Both options give ample time for children to receive special education services (occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy) in the same building where they spend the rest of the school day. Cody House operates throughout the year on a 12-month schedule including during the summer months. In addition to receiving special education services, children spend the rest of the school day playing and learning in the classroom, fully equipped sensory room, and beautiful backyard playground all under the expert care of our special education teachers and director of special education.

Cody House provides a stepping stone to preschool for children with special needs by focusing on peer socialization and school readiness alongside special education services. Our school is unique in that it remains one of the last center-based, full-day programs in Manhattan for children with special needs that don’t solely focus on children with autism. Additionally, Cody House serves as a feeder school for children wanting to move on to Cassidy’s Place for CPSE and Merricat’s Castle School, our model inclusionary private preschool. Both preschools are just blocks away located at 419 East 86th Street and 316 East 88th Street respectively.

Children qualified to receive EI service can receive those services fully covered at Cody House. For children not qualified to receive EI, private pay OT, ST, and PT are available at our therapists’ discretion.

More about Cody House

Two children laughing by a play structure.
ABC’s Cody Gifford House was the best decision we have made. My son has gained so much confidence with speech and physical activities. He can climb stairs and play various games with his peers. Before going to Cody, he would not even go down the slide at the park. Now, he is open to socializing with other children without fear. We are so proud of his progress.
